How to respond to Google reviews (with 5 free templates)
Replying to reviews, good and bad, shows potential customers that a real person runs the business and cares how jobs turn out. Here is a simple method and five free templates for the reviews you get most often.
A simple four-step reply
- Thank them and use their name. Even an angry customer took the time to write.
- Acknowledge the specific problem. Repeat one detail so readers can see you actually read it.
- Take responsibility for what's yours, or explain once, briefly. No arguing, no blaming.
- Move it offline with a real next step. Give a direct phone number or email and a named person.
Keep the reply short (three to five sentences) and remember who it's really for: the future customers reading your reviews before they call.
Positive reviews deserve a reply too
A quick, specific thank-you takes thirty seconds. Mention the job or a detail from the review so it doesn't read like a form letter.
